How to Determine Door Handing Swings
Determining handing when ordering door hardware is a bit different that how you determine door handing for carpentry (ordering and hanging doors). The reason being that when ordering hardware it matters which side the lock is on - where for carpentry it does not. If you follow the standard carpentry rules for handing, instead of following the diagram below, there is a good chance you may end up with a lock that is backwards.
Please refer to the diagram below and if you have any questions.
NOTE:
if door swings towards you its an INSWING
if door swings away its an OUTSWING
If totally confused not to worry call us we will come to verify!!
please order and fill in forms on order pages as best you can, but its not in stone.. remember we will help!

| Follow These Steps: | |

|
|
| Stand facing the door on the outside - If it's a locking door, stand on the side of the door where you would insert a key (or unlocking tool if it would be a privacy lock). For interior doors you would stand on the side of the door you enter from - i.e. in the hall if a hall closet, in the bedrooom if a door opens to a bath, in the kitchen if a door opens to the pantry. | |
| If the hinges are on the left, it's a left hand door. If the hinges are on the right, it's a right hand door. | |
